In the Beginning   How to start your journey to better health.   Where to start? This is an important question because the start will impact the whole journey. I think any journey must begin with a purpose. If I decide to travel to a sunny Florida beach and hang out there for a week there must have been a reason for going. I wouldn’t go just because. It would cost money, time, and effort to plan and to carry out such a trip. But if I decide that I need a break and relaxing for a week on a beach will fill that need, then I am motivated and willing to do what is necessary.   If you start your dietary journey with specific purposes and desired outcomes, you’ll find greater strength to stay the course. You won’t be tempted to turn around and head back home after driving halfway to the beach so to speak. So, what is the reason for doing this? Maybe you want to lose some weight. Maybe you want to improve your health. Maybe you would like to bend down and tie your o...

Slaying the Beast My Dietary Plan   I personally can say that I have fought the beast and I did slay it. I was gaining weight slowly over the course of my life from the time I turned nineteen until two years ago. I weighed about 150lbs at the time I was married and at 61 years old I was weighing in at 196lbs. Now I know that to many folks this doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but to me it was a big deal. Besides the weight gain, the enlarging waistline and puffy cheeks and swollen neck I was starting to experience other things as well. I began to have back problems, stiff knees, shoulder aches, breathing problems, sleep disorders, and frequent illness to mention a few, and with this came discouragement. I knew I had to do something. I tried so many things over the years to stop or reverse the relentless march to obesity but to no avail. I finally determined that the only thing left was to stop eating. I would starve myself, that would do it. About that time my brot...

Keto vs Ketosis The term “Keto” started as an abbreviation for a new, expanding dietary regimen with wonderful promise. But with the predictable hijacking of the term by major food producers and manufacturers it has become a fraud, a label that misrepresents a dietary regimen. “Ketosis,” the correct term, is a natural metabolic system. It’s important to understand these words properly today. When ketogenic diets first became a “thing,” everyone had to try it at least once. Soon thereafter food manufacturers became aware of the new diet craze and developed a slew of “Keto friendly” foods, only they aren’t. Officially, a “Keto friendly” food would be a food that does not lead to insulin resistance and encourages the synthesis of fat, but food manufacturers made it a term that means “Low Carb.” Of course, they determine what constitutes “Low Carb.” Ketogenic foods on the other hand are foods that stimulate the production of ketones instead of insulin. So, when the so-called Ke...

Insulin Resistance: There may be as many opinions about what causes bad health as there is sand on the seashore, but there seems to be one attribute of poor health that is common throughout. It is the presence of insulin resistance. Insulin is instrumental in the conversion of blood glucose to energy. Insulin resistance occurs on the cellular level and is described as a condition in which the cell rejects insulin preventing it from doing its job. When this happens, the body responds by producing more insulin. This results in the demand for more glucose resulting in higher levels of sugar in the blood. This vitious cycle leads to toxicity eventually damaging or even destroying the body’s immune systems, leaving the body defenseless against an array of diseases and disorders. Insulin resistance is the primary catalyst for obesity, skin tags, discoloration and dark patches of skin called acanthosis nigricans, high blood pressure, high levels of bad cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, ...
Introduction: All things are made of light. There are as many differences in light as there are stars in the heavens. Light, or intelligence exists on a single plane and ranges from the brightest to utter darkness and covers all the spectrum of color and frequency. For the sake of clarity, we will refer to light on the bright end of this spectrum as light, and on the dark end as darkness. Intelligence or light is the building block of all things and is in character either good or bad. If spiritually we ingest light our spirits are happy, loving and approaching God. If spiritually we ingest darkness, we become hateful, angry, and contentious approaching hell. Our spiritual appearance alters as the result of the light we ingest. The same thing is true of ingesting light temporally. The food we eat consists of light or darkness causing similar effects on our bodies. Foods consisting of light cause us to be healthy, strong, and vibrant while food that consists of darkness will cause ...
