Insulin Resistance: There may be as many opinions about what causes bad health as there is sand on the seashore, but there seems to be one attribute of poor health that is common throughout. It is the presence of insulin resistance. Insulin is instrumental in the conversion of blood glucose to energy. Insulin resistance occurs on the cellular level and is described as a condition in which the cell rejects insulin preventing it from doing its job. When this happens, the body responds by producing more insulin. This results in the demand for more glucose resulting in higher levels of sugar in the blood. This vitious cycle leads to toxicity eventually damaging or even destroying the body’s immune systems, leaving the body defenseless against an array of diseases and disorders.
